BODY SPIRIT MIND

SARAH JONES PILATES

Welcome to my website.
I hope it inspires you to explore all the benefits this wonderful method has to offer.

I have been teaching Body Control Pilates since 2000 and have spent the last 23 years training and teaching to constantly expand my knowledge. This method enables Pilates to be accessible to everyone, from beginners through to advanced students. Regardless of age, ability and specific joint or back problems. The work is tailored to the individual, so you progress safely and effectively to achieve your goals. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience to help everyone get the best out of their Pilates experience.

I teach small, friendly matwork classes in the whole Teignbridge area, from beginners up to advanced level. I also teach private one-to-ones from my fully equipped, tranquil home studio in Bishopsteignton. Here you also have the opportunity to work with some of the larger Pilates equipment and machines.

I also teach online classes and one-to-one sessions via Zoom. These are great as you can be based anywhere and take a class!

About Sarah

I first discovered Pilates whilst training as a professional dancer in 1995. The strength, flexibility and ease of movement it provided, enhanced my dancing greatly. From then on I was hooked! Whilst still dancing professionally, I trained with Body Control Pilates in 2000.

BC Pilates is one Europe’s leading training Providers for Pilates. All members work to the code of practice, which governs teaching standards, professional ethics & continuing education. Over the years I continue to take workshops in the UK, Europe and America to constantly expand my knowledge and understanding of this wonderful method.

I am fully qualified in Matwork, beginners through to advanced level, sometimes using small equipment such as bands, balls and small weights. I am also fully trained on the Pilates studio equipment - the Reformer, Cadillac and Chair. These offer assistance and resistance from springs and pulleys and are an excellent compliment to matwork. I am a Pink Ribbon programme post rehab instructor and really enjoy helping clients rehabilitate after treatment/surgery post breast cancer.

My clients range from dancers through to older clients. Those who are rehabilitating after injury, to fitness fanatics who wish to enhance their fitness levels. I spent 2 years teaching dancers at London College of Dance to help with injury prevention. I have also taught Aston Villa football team as part of their seasonal training schedule.

After having 2 children myself, and feeling the huge benefits Pilates provided through my pregnancies, I have a keen interest in post natal Pilates. But my main passion is to help people understand their bodies and make Pilates enjoyable and accessible to everyone!

TESTIMONIALS

What is Pilates?

Body Control Pilates is an excellent way to work progressively towards the classical Pilates method, developed by the late Joseph Pilates. It is a fabulous form of training that anyone can do regardless of age or ability. It targets deep postural muscles working from the inside out. This refers to the deep abdominals, pelvic floor and spine.  You will learn how to engage these muscles whilst gaining an understanding of correct alignment and posture. And work up to a class that moves with grace and ease.

Pilates is a physical and mental conditioning that greatly enhances body awareness. The aim is a long, lean and strong body, bringing you into perfect balance and alignment. The exercises are performed with control, often in a flowing sequence, without endless repetition. It does not leave you feeling exhausted, drained or bored. You should leave class feeling refreshed, calm and invigorated!
